The Oakmont Fire Department is 100% VOLUNTEER establishment.  

Joining the Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department means becoming an integral part of a dedicated team committed to protecting our community and surrounding areas. 

NO EXPIERENCE NESCESSARY

You will receive training in life saving techniques, emergency response protocols and advanced fire fighting strategies, teaching you invaluable skills that extend far beyond the realm of firefighting. 

By joining Oakmont Fire Department you'll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. Your commitment to service will not only save lives, but foster a strong sense of comraderies among your fellow firefighters.

  • Residence within 1 mile of the border of Oakmont Borough, Allegheny County

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Complete an application

  • Pass a criminal background check and the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Check administered by the Borough of Oakmont

  • Be voted in by the members of the Oakmont Borough Fire Department

Junior Program Requirements

  • Residence within 1 mile of the border of Oakmont Borough, Allegheny County

  • Be at least 16 years of age

  • Have parental/guardian consent

  • Be voted in by the members of the Oakmont Borough Fire Department​

Other Opportunities

Fire Vest Scholarship

The Allegheny County and CCAC FireVest scholarship is a great opportunity for firefighters looking to pursue a college degree. To be considered you must dedicate 5 years to a fire company within Allegheny County and complete any training necessary to become a firefighter. The Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department is a sponsor for our members that wish to apply for the FireVest scholarship.
